Welcome to Transformation Thursday! It's the one day of the week when we challenge ourselves to actually get stuff done!Back a few months ago when we built our new kitchen, DH created a beautiful facing for all of our drawers & doors. It was my job to make them beautiful. I started out with just plain white. Then for our second Transformation Thursday, I painted the inserts blue. But they still weren't right.
After watching Kimba's video yesterday & admiring the finishes in the giveaway, I thought "I can do that!" And so I did. (Ohhh... But I still hope I win, cause I can use that stuff lots of places!)
I started off sanding the crap out of them.
I was rougher than my heart would let me be, scuffing them up really good.
After grabbing some dark wood stain from my stash,
I rubbed it on and wiped it off with a wet towel.
Last I took a green scrubby (like the kind you do dishes with) and wet it, added a little dish soap then scrubbed the (formerly) white fronts really well, pulling most of the stain back off. This way it stayed in the cracks & crevices very well.
Better, no?
