Last summer, I found a whole box full of seashells at the Nashville Flea Market for $5. I've used them in hurricanes, etc., but knew they had more potential.
Then I found wreath forms at the Dollar Tree.
Madeline and I painted it out white
(so it wasn't such a big deal if there were gaps).

{Notice the blue star from a previous project :)}
Then spent the next couple of days working here and there, totaling a couple of hours to piece the shells onto the form, bit by bit. I used hot glue, but you have to be careful not to get the tip of the gun directly onto the wreath form. Other than that, it's just time.
And there's enough shells left to make about 4 more wreaths.
I think I have a bad case of spring fever!

I really like that! How cool to have so many shells to use so many ways. That project was very low cost.

Oh Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of shells from the beach. How exciting, I can actually do something with them that will allow me to see them. How beautiful this wreath is. I love it.
Thank you so much for sharing. I guess I will be going back to the Dollar Store. When I looked at yours, I came up with a cute idea, take some of that fish netting and use it to tie your bow and hang it with. You might be able to add a few shells even to the netting?
Love it, and thanks again for the share. Country hugs sweetie...Sherry
Hey gal...love that idea!

Oh I love shells - very cute.
ReplyDeleteThat would look great at a beach house...if I only had one. You know how you find a great pair of shoes but you have nothing to wear with them so you have to buy a whole new outfit just for the shoes? Maybe if I make the wreath I'll have to buy a beach house to go with it! Ha! Fat chance but I love the wreath!
ReplyDeleteMy girls and I made the same wreath last summer with shells we'd collected over the summer. I'm right there with you... come on warm weather!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to try something like this! Very cute!
ReplyDeleteSeeing that wreath really makes me want warm, summer beach weather here NOW! We're expecting snow tonight so I'll just have to keep looking at your wreath knowing that warmer days are coming! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI have a shell wreath..
ReplyDeleteI never painted mine white ha ha...
Living near the sea I have so many as they are FREE on the beach. How can you not pick them up.

ReplyDeleteVery pretty! We are going to Florida in April and I'll have to bring back some shells to make on of these!
ReplyDeletenice...I can totally relate with the whole spring fever thing too!! Bring It!!!

I have the shells too but would have to buy the wreath form and our dollar stores don't carry the forms so I would have to get one at the Hobby Lobby unless I got lucky and found one at Goodwill. I Love this idea. It goes with my SSG "no color" theme from the movie from the Hamptons.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. I love your patience with this project. These charming decoration could also be mirrors or picture frames?
