Transformation Thursday: Guest Post & Giveaway

Welcome once again to Transformation Thursday! It's the one day a week we come together to celebrate getting things done! Everyone is welcome to join in with MckLinky below!

This week, due to my Blissdom craziness, my friend, Jeanine is going to guest post. She is One Cheap B*tch - and I LOVE her for it! She is AWESOME!

Hi Shabby Chic Cottage followers! Gina graciously invited me to do a quick and easy tutorial on her blog. Quick and easy are two favorite words in my house - oh, and cheap too, of course! These vintage-inspired blocks are really easy to make and would look adorable on a mantel or shelf.
Once again I had some leftover wood blocks from another project.  Since I hate to waste anything, I decided to make these easy Paris blocks.  Here's how to do it:
Take random sized blocks such as these.  Using book paper or in my case, vintage hymnal music pages, cut the paper to the size of the blocks.  Easy!  You'll need five pieces (six if you do the bottom, I didn't).
Next, glue them onto each block.  They should look like this:
Next, using Distress Ink (or you could probably use paint if you have a light touch), you'll want to rub it on all of the edges on each block.
Here's how they should look:
Finally, I used a variety of Paris-inspired stamps in red (Staz On ink) and stamped them on each side with the paper.
Voila!

See? Isn't she awesome?

While we're talking about friends, my friend Angie at The Country Chic Cottage is offering a giveaway! For one lucky participant, you will win these three decorative balls. Too cool, huh?

Soooo... whatcha got? I wanna see it - and so does everyone else! Just put your PERMALINK into MckLinky and make sure to link back here so everyone can find the great ideas.

Let'er rip, tater chip!

  11. I love those blocks! I'm always saving scraps left over from projects (even from projects that aren't mine), feeling sure that something cute could come out of it. Great job on using something that might have otherwise been tossed and making those fabulous blocks- now I'm wantig to do something like that- and I don't even have any wood like that. I think I need to start fishing around potential woodworkers now! I love this blog! Thanks for Guest hosting!

I will also try to visit all the rest of you. Looks like there are some good transformations.

Just want to say that it's good to get back in the swing of things and I hope you haven't given up on me!

    See ya soon ;)

  14. I came across your blog quite by chance, hope you don't mind me popping in.Your articles and crafts are so interesting and easy to make,I loved the 'vintage'French curtains you made.
If you are interested in my abode,go to my older posts to see the inside of the castle,a lot of the things in there are not as they seem,Antiques have been 'created' ,we have made all the drapes and even a very large round padded seat from a large tractor tyre.We also created an old looking sink unit ,from an old table, turned upside down. These are not included in the photos, but if you would be interested,I will put a post up,to show them.

  15. As it stands, I don't have much to share just having moved into my new home. Next week I will start with all my progress pics. For now I just post before pictures and pics of all the things I'm wanting from various on line catalogs. There isn't anything like nesting. So much fun. :)

  17. These are great! I could see even using them as a paperweight. It's nice when you can use something you already have in the house.
