Twig topiary

IMG_3854 As I sit here lost in a forest of paper trees, getting everything ready for the Artsy Chicks fun tomorrow, I realized that I never shared how to make my other favorite tree this week – the twig topiary.

IMG_3834 They’re really quite simple, only a little time consuming and oh so cheap – that’s my favorite part! I took a buncha twigs - TONS of twigs, like tripe the amount you see here (I made multiple trips to scout for more), a paper cup from Dollar Tree (12 for $1) and some leftover Krylon Chalkboard paint. I tried regular paint, but there’s something in the chalkboard paint that just sticks better to the cup. Oh, and I used my trusty hot glue gun.

IMG_3839 I painted the cup and let it dry while I gathered sticks. Then I hot glued them on. Layers, and layers, and layers of twigs. I individually snapped off the ends to make them fit just right.

twig topiary Easy, cheap and just too cute. Perfect for fall into winter… gotta love a cheap project that lasts a while! Did you see these on the cover of Splendidly Homemade? Thanks for all your support – I’m so glad you’re loving the magazine!

If you’re a local reader, I’d love to see you tomorrow at The Station Inn from 10-2 while I’m hanging out with the Artsy Chicks. If you can’t make it, there will be another chance to catch me at West Elm in Nashville on Thursday, Dec. 1st.

See ya tomorrow with a few little peeks at what I’m up to :)

  2. My work table looks just like yours with all the music paper trees lined up. I don't have a twig tree yet... hhmmm, might put that on the 'to do' list too.
I hope your husbands health issues have resolved.
