Guest Post: Kerry from House Talkn

While I’m still recuperating from my too awesome to comprehend time at SNAP, I’m going to share one of my favorite new people with you – Kerry from House Talk’n. Kerry is funny & sweet & way too cool… when we finally got to sit down and talk, I claimed her as a new BFF right away and I couldn’t wait to share her hilariousness with you – as well as her hotness. Without further ado, here’s Kerry to share her favorite beach house

Thank you so much to Gina for inviting me to guest post at her fantastic blog, The Shabby Creek Cottage! This is the time of year that I start dreaming of a summer home on the beach! Since a real beach house isn’t going to happen unless I rob a bank anytime soon for me, I thought I would share ways to bring the beach to Anytown, USA!Unless you really do live in a beach house, you are probably making the big switch-a-roo from winter house to summer house while maintaining the same address! No one brings the beach to the prairie like my gal pal, Tracy! She finally answered her door invited me for a midwestern house tour…beach style!

FROM WOOL TO COTTON:
If we are going to stand at the sink for 2,872 hours each summer, shouldn’t we have purdy shells to remind us of the beach that we will someday live on?
From the dining room to the patio:
From winter coats to towels and goggles:
From the stovetop to the grill:
Use purdy containers next to your entryway for your summer necessities!

Jazz up your old photo frames by unleashing your children with a hot glue gun and shells from a trip to the craft store beach.

This is the perfect time to walk through your house with left over paint and touch up those snot scuff marks on the walls!

From fancy wine glasses to out of the bottle plastic cups:

If you have worked as hard as I have this winter, you will also be bikini ready!

From flab to fab:
Just look at me, now!

  1. GINA! Thank you so much for having me! I can’t wait to hear all about Snap and I’m super excited that we are sharing that single bed at Haven!

  2. Wow, you look amazing. I love the shells – they really do make you think beachhouse and I’m about ready to start with some warmth. Bring it on!!

  3. Nailed it. Great job Kerry! :)

  4. Oh my GOODNESS! HILARIOUS!! …and beautiful spaces!! :)

  5. Excellent photos and inspiration to go clean off my hooks! Love love the reference to the “scuff” marks on the wall. I scraped a green one off the wall last week. Why do they wipe them on the walls? Why?

  6. Love it Kerry – and congrats on the guest post! I love the “beach” house – so my style. In fact I have the same checked curtains hanging in my dining room! You were as hysterical as ever!
    Cheers! – Shelley

  10. Kerry you are hilarious! I’ve got to try that bathing suit over my clothes idea….that’s JUST what I’ve been looking for to get me through the summer. Lisa~

  11. Love your decor. This is a must share with my daughter whose decor is beach themed. Thanks for sharing.

  12. Beautiful decor but it’s all eclipsed by your bikini over the pants thing you’ve got going on. Elle McPherson has nothing on you!
