For this project you will need:
2 pieces of felt, cut 9 inches square
4 strips of narrow ribbon, 9 inches long
2 small pieces of hook & loop tape (not shown)
Stamps (I used PSA Essentials stamps)
Staz-On Ink
Wooden rounds (also called Wood Nickels) - 10 pieces
Fine tip markers
Let's start with the pouch: With one piece of felt, fold into thirds to get the lines for the tic tac toe board. You can mark it with a straight pin, or a fabric marker, but I found that just finger creasing the lines helped make my guides for the ribbons.
Stitch the ribbon on the guide, two one direction on the felt, then fold to make marks and stitch the other two pieces on the other direction so you have the grid for a board.
After your grid pattern is done, stitch one piece of each side of the hook and loop tape on each side, making sure that you have it towards the inside of the pouch. (That means on the opposite side of the ribbon.)
Once the hook and loop tape is stitched down, then put the pieces together (right sides out), and stitch around the outter edge, with about a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Now the pouch is done :)
Once you stamp on the animals, use the felt markers to color them in. It was kinda fun to do this step :)
Once all your critters are colored - you're done! You could seal them with clear coat, but our set has been used a ton and shows no wear. Even my big girls grab it for a quick game of tic tac toe on the go.

ReplyDeleteI like this, I try to include a game each year for my son's families in the Christmas presents. This would even be nice to have at my place for when the little ones come over.
