Last year our list included remodeling
We've also purchased a ton of the accessories, etc. that will load in soon. We're laying down floors by the 1st of January, so I see this room being revealed in the very near future :)
After we finish the bathroom, our master bedroom will be getting a bit of an update. Nothing fancy, some new (and badly needed) linens, curtains and maybe even a little furniture painting. The whole shabang can be done in one day while everyone is out learning and earning and stuff. I'm no stranger to hanging curtains :)
Here's what the room will get:
fresh paint on the furniture
new decorative pillow (with a surprise color pop!)
artwork (handmade, of course)
See, nothing dramatic, just a little quick refresh that will make it feel like a whole new space.
Last on my list is adding curb appeal. Living in a mobile home, the #2 question folks ask me (right behind my flooring) is what did we do with the exterior of our home. And I have nothing to show them.... because we haven't got there yet. In 2013 we're gonna carpe that diem and start working on the exterior of our home. On top of a new roof, we're also going to finally add in some landscaping.
I know, I know, you think my neighbors hate me. Well, since I only have one neighbor that can see my house, we're not on anyone's hit list. (Thankfully our neighbors are awesome!) But, it drives me crazy, so we're gonna fix it up. We may even add an outdoor eating area.... maybe.
Is that all we'll get done this year? Probably not. Will it all get done this year? I sure hope so! I'd like to throw the kitchen into that mix, but that would be stretching my budget (and sanity), so I'm only going to put the big 3 on my list.
What's my other big change for 2013? I closed my Esty shop. I know, it's scary. Seriously. I love, love, loved being a part of the handmade movement for a long, long time, but I think that time in my life has run it's course for a while. After I left Peacock Lane, I very quickly realized that I could easily let go of the day to day handmade life.
I was never able to figure out my title as a handmade seller, but I've always been able to say with great certainty that I'm a writer. I've been a writer for over a decade. I even got a degree in professional writing. When I took a few days off after Bella Rustica to relax and catch my breath, I couldn't wait to get back to writing. You may have even noticed that I've been posting a LOT more than I have in over 2 years.
So for 2013, I'm just gonna write. I'm gonna blog my little heart out. No late nights furiously getting out orders. No scurrying to the last minute to pull together a show. This year is about you and me and the blog. You've got my undivided attention :)
What are your goals for 2013?
I'd love to know in the comments!
