my 5 fave posts of 2012

Can you believe 2012 is almost over? Yeah, me neither. I didn't get nearly what I planned finished this year, but I did make some rather large chunks in what I needed to get done. I also made some major decisions that will impact 2013, but before we get to that, let's take a look back at 2012.
Way back in January, I shared my to do list for 2012 with three spaces planned: the laundry room, the living room and the tiniest bathroom in the world. Two outta three ain't bad. And we're currently working on the 3rd, which is about 1/2 done (yay!)

We started in the laundry room, which still looks pretty much identical, except we pulled the island back into the kitchen. And there is currently a pile of laundry {but we're not gonna talk about that, ok?}

The island moved because the table moved, because Lala moved. It's like giving a mouse a cookie, ya know? My studio was set up with whatever I had on hand, and so I got all the supplies out from hiding all over the rest of my house into just one room. Mr. SCC is still grateful 6 months later :)

Of course, now that I've closed my shop {for a few months? forever? I don't know right now}, I'm in the process of making what was a workroom into an office. Oh yeah, and Lala moved back home. She's still in college, but now lives in the guest house {so it's like her own little apartment.} Whew! Bet you didn't wanna know all that, huh?
Then in the fall, stuff really started happening. First I went to San Diego and made over my friend's whole apartment in one week for $1000. I know, I'm crazy! It pushed me creatively more than anything has in a long, long time - and it was fun to finally see another ocean :)

Not long after I returned, October rolled around, and I embarked upon Embrace Your Space {a 31 day series.} It was a good reminder for me to really love where I live without excuses. I loved the process of thinking everything out loud, so much in fact, that I'm working on a book to expand on the series. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am about breaking down and writing this e-book!

And then we finished our living room. Ahhhhhhhh!!!! I'm still tweaking, and after the Christmas stuff comes down it will be a lot of fun to play around with it. I'll share more without the holiday decor really soon.

As for the bathroom, I have no photos just yet - but we did get all the bad stuff ripped out (including the subfloor) and there are walls again, most of which have paint. I'm working on it. Because just like everything in life, my house is a work in progress.

So what's in store for 2013? I'll share that in a couple of days - there's a LOT in store and I can't wait to give you my to-do list for the upcoming year.

  5. I think you accomplished quite a bit in the one year! I think I'll be taking a page from your 'book' and making my own to do list...it might help me keep on track, especially since I'm not working now.
    Hope your Christmas was wonderful, and your New Year will be happy!

  7. Glad I found your blog. I love to decorate, and love cottage style, but don't always have the time/energy to create my own ideas. I love your ideas...practical, affordable and "do-able". I look forward to reading your blog posts.
