Simple bookcase upgrade {with wrapping paper}

Quick & cheap updates are my favorite kind. I’m always happy to let Mr. SCC build me stuff, but every now and then a girl’s just gotta get her build on. Well, kinda. I started with a simple flat box book case, but added a little sumin’ sumpin’ to make it more me. Best of all, I had everything I needed already on hand.

 I started with some simple book shelves that I picked up at Lowe’s. Almost any big box store sells them, the price is reasonable, and they’re quick and easy to put together. Assemble the bookshelf according to the instruction, but leave the back because we’re going to jazz it up a bit.

 You’re going to need some wrapping paper (I found mine at Marshall’s), double sided tape and a craft knife. That’s it. See, I told you it was simple.

 On the side that would go towards the shelf, put several pieces of double stick tape, going around the edges, corners and in the middle.

 Lay a piece of the wrapping paper on top and smooth it out (working from the center to the edges.) Trim off all the excess with the craft knife.

Then, install it as you would according to the instructions.

With about five extra minutes, a little tape and some wrapping paper, you can totally customize the look of a boring box bookshelf.
