Living way out in the boonies can be a huge blessing. It’s gorgeous out here, it’s quiet, the green trees & flowers & birds & deer & all of the enchanted forrest-like goodness all around. And then there’s the curse. It takes 20 minutes to get to the gas station. So if I wanna “run go get” something, it probably ain’t gonna happen. I mean, seriously, it’s 45 minutes to Target or Lowe’s or… well anywhere I really wanna go. And if I wanna hit up Anthro or West Elm? Yeah that’s two hours away. And don’t even get me started on the 6 hour drive to get to Ikea.
Now, before you think I’m being all whiney about living in a little place I like to call heaven on earth, I’m not. It just means that I have to get my creative thinking on every now and then. Like this wall.
It’s held a couple of other things over the last few years, but nothing ever really felt right. They felt like temporary place holders until the space had met it’s true match. And while this probably isn’t going to last forever, I’m reallllllly happy with it right now.
Originally I wanted to put a big mirror here – but since all the thrift stores were all out of fabulous mirrors and I’m saving my budget for this room to put down the floors, I had to get creative. Yeah, I coulda painted a sign, but honestly – I’m kinda over those for the next five minutes. So instead, I thought, “why not just print some stuff and tape it up?” I already had card stock. I had a fresh thing of ink. I had cute washi tape. Plus I have a whole board full of cute printables on Pinterest that I’ve been collecting for a while. So for a little time, paper and tape, I had practically free wall art. (Well, with a few random things thrown in for fun.)
But when I was done, I still had this weird hole left, which led me to making one final printable to fill it up.
As my reward, I heard teenage girl mumbles of “dork” and eye rolls galore. It’s all good, because I’m a nerd and just don’t care.
Want to be a nerd with me? I made this print in several different colors, to get your own just click on the color of your choice to open in a new window, click on it again to enlarge, then save it to your computer. You can either print at home or take it to an office store and get it printed for about a $1 each. Not bad, eh?
By the by, if you do decide to tape them up to the wall like a teenager, then I have a tiny tip: first use a good quality gift wrapping tape, then put your washi tape on top. The washi tape is pretty, but it sure doesn’t hold well (or mine didn’t anyways.)
And if you do a gallery wall, I’d love to see it, so feel free to email me a photo!

Gina,
I had to laugh because I kept looking at this thinking “how in the world did she manage to find washi tape that actually holds stuff up? mine never does.” Now the secret is out! I have a HUGE map (vintage 1950 USAF mediterranean flight path… coolest thing ever!) in our living room which initially I wanted to hang with washi tape… you know where this is going, right? Hung it, 10 minutes later we hear a whoosh… yes it was the map. Currently it is being help up with pushpin and washi tape.
As far as the signs…. love, love, love this idea!!! It is so up my alley! Now if I can convince a 15 year old that it would be great in his room… crazy sayings to add pops of color. He could even pick them out! Mr. I love to troll the internet for funny videos and memes! Gotta love that boy! He definitely has a mind of his own!
Have a great 4th!!

I also live way out away from all the good stores, but it is a nice trade off to come home and see no one in sight. Love the eye rolling thing, I sometimes get that from my teens. I’m printing now for a gallery way that I will keep you posted on.
Thanks for sharing!
