Thanks to Lowe’s for partnering with me on this post.
In all the hundreds of projects I’ve done, I don’t think I’ve ever made a set of DIY coasters. And I have no idea why, because we never seem to have enough of them, and they’re super easy to make. So today that’s what I’m sharing, my super easy color block DIY coasters. You know I love a quick project, and this one is just that – it’s fast and can be made with just a few basic supplies. Wanna make them?
You’ll need:
- 4 (or however many you’d like) pieces of 1×4 pine, cut to 3.5 inches (the sweet guy at Lowe’s cut them for me)
- sandpaper
- painters tape
- paint of your choice
- paint brush
- clear sealer
Start by sanding down your pieces of wood with fine grit sand paper, then wipe them down. Tape off whatever shape you’d like to create a color block design.
Next paint the area with a couple of coats of paint, letting it throughly dry, then remove the painters tape.
Give them a couple of coats of spray clear sealer, then give them 24 hours before use.
Super easy DIY coasters, huh? Now… who wants a drink?

Love the color…coasters are not only for protection, but for absorption…perhaps a layer of cork glued on the squares before painting..
