Pumpkin carving has to be the most anticipated part of the Halloween season at my house. Turning those fruits into spooky and fun scenes, we can spend hours on pumpkin carving alone. So this year we invited a few of my daughter’s friends over for a bring your own pumpkin carving party. With just a few fun ideas thrown together, we had it ready in no time!
tips for hosting a pumpkin carving party
Pick the place. Start by identifying where in the home you plan to host the party. I picked a table with open wall space behind it to help set the scene. We knew that we’d need space for lots of girls for pumpkin carving time.
Invite your friends. Whether you are providing the pumpkins or asking people to bring their own pumpkins, the more the merrier! We bought a few pumpkins in case someone didn’t remember to bring one.
Create a fun focal piece. I knew that they’d want some fun treats, so I used cupcakes as the food and centerpiece all in one with my cupcake cemetery.
Get your decorating on! Measure the length of the Halloween banner using a tape measure, approximately 1 ft down from the ceiling, measure the banner length and mark the ends on the wall with a pencil. Using the pencil marks as a guide, adhere 2 Command™ Party Banner Anchors to the wall. To hang the Halloween banner, wrap each end around the party banner anchors a few times to secure in place.
Inflate and tie 3 balloons. Slide the knot of each balloon into the clips of 1 Command™ Party Balloon Buncher. Press the balloon buncher firmly to the left of the Halloween banner and hold for 30 seconds.
Stock up on tools. You’ll need pumpkin carving kits, but we also provided printable pumpkin carving templates to make things more fun for those who wanted a challenge.
Don’t forget the food! Be sure to have lots of drinks and snacks, because intricate pumpkin carving can take well over an hour to complete.

Pumpkin carving is the holy grail of Halloween activities at my house! We have numerous carving sets and templates, accessories, etc. My husband has been doing it with the kids since they were old enough to help (and they’re now 15, 14 and11!) It’s a great family bonding activity as well as a great creative outlet for the kids. Love that you had your daughter’s friends over!
