Hello there! It’s Emily from The Benson Street. I know in some places it is still chilly, but my weather has been warming up and I see spring when I look out my windows. It has put me in the mood to do a little bit of spring and Easter decorating. I love Easter egg crafts. They can be super simple, complex and the possibilities are unlimited. I decided to get out my Mod Podge and magazines and create some collage easter eggs. I love how fun they turned out.
Decoupage Collage Easter Eggs Supplies:
- old magazines
- Mod Podge or any decoupage glue
- foam paint brush
- paper mache eggs (I got mine at Hobby Lobby, but you could make your own)
Start by picking a color for each egg. I choose to do a yellow, purple and white/ivory egg. I just flipped through the magazines and teared out full pages of colors I might want to use.
After the full pages have been gathered, rip the colors into smaller strips. You can use scissors but I love the look of the ripped edges. I think it adds to the character of the eggs.
Using the foam brush add a small bit of Mod podge to the egg. Stick the first piece of magazine to the egg.
Follow that up with a thin layer of Mod Podge over the piece of the magazine strip. Continue this process all over the entire egg. Making sure to cover the whole egg.
Let the eggs dry. Then put out on display in an easter basket, make a garland or arrange in a bowl on your coffee table.
These eggs are easy to make and don’t require a lot of work. They are a perfect Sunday afternoon project. My tip for great looking collages is to pick a variety of textures in the pictures rather than all pieces of flat colors. This craft would also be fun with words or other images.
What is your favorite way to decorate Easter eggs?
