We needed pet food labels. See, a few weeks ago we adopted a new rescue dog, Sophie. She’s adorable and sweet and fits in perfectly with our family. She’s like the Annie of dog world, she went from not so great conditions to living a life of luxury where her only worry is what kind of treat she wants today. Our sweet new family addition needed a place to put her food, so I whipped up some cute pet food labels to go on basic, big box jars. They’re so easy to make you can do it in just a couple of minutes, because I made the graphics for you (so the hard part is done!)
How to Make Pet Food Labels

For this project you will need:
- Jars (I used these gallon jars)
- Adhesive Vinyl (this is perfect for scraps because you only need about 6 inches)
- Transfer Tape
- Ruler with a bit of painter’s tape
- Silhouette Machine & pick tool
First take the graphics below & hook up your Silhouette Machine to your computer, then use my tutorial for how to cut your own graphics to cut them with your Silhouette machine.

Once they’ve been cut out of your vinyl, then weed out the excess vinyl from around the words. Cover them with transfer tape so you’re ready to adhere them to the jars.
Tape a small ruler inside the jar using a bit of painter’s tape – this will help get them centered.
Using the transfer tape, put the vinyl in the middle and use a scraper to make sure it’s well adhered before pulling the transfer tape off the jar to leave behind the vinyl. Fill it up with food and you’re done!
I made one for Sophie plus one for our cat Buddy, because we can’t leave that fella out of the fun! Isn’t that font perfect? I shared the graphic above because it’s a rather pricey font – so hopefully you’ll put them to good use 🙂

I love that pretty font, Gina! Thanks for the tip on how to get the wording straight on the glass. I saw some jars just like that last week at WM and wished I had a place/space for them. I’m sharing this on Twitter, Pinterest, and FB today. 🙂

So, where is a pic of your sweet Sophie? Love the labels, wish I had a Silhouette machine!

I love this idea! My daughter used this kind of huge jar as part of her wedding decor (filled with local wild greenery) and I have had the jars hanging around now for, oh….7 years! Now I know what to do with them! Thanks for sharing the idea and your very lovely font. Oh, and congrats on the new addition to your family! Give Sophie a pat from me and also Buddy, as we wouldn’t want to make him feel left out. -Sue

I am a sucker for glass jars and I love this idea! I need “Bark” for our dog Biscuit, too bad I don’t have a Silhouette 🙁
Super cute idea and Happy Friday!! New follower after seeing your bedroom on Inspired By Charms Instagram.

I have the original Silhouette can I do this project on it? Or do I need to break down and buy the newest one.
