Our little light over the kitchen sink was a case of budget over beauty. I dreamt of one of those delicious Anthropologie lights, oozing with quirky style. However we had about $20 instead of $200, so we bought a Home Depot pendant and put a bucket on it. It’s cute, in a pink bunny sorta way. This 31 days business has put me on a mission to correct the little irritating bits of my home – but to do it with mostly what I have on hand. So this light became the issue of the day. I channeled my ... continue reading...

Quick Chair Makeover
A couple of weeks ago, Bre & I were shopping at Goodwill and found this chair on the sidewalk out front. It was comfy, but really ugly. Seriously ugly. So ugly in fact that I looked it over and thought “That’s a great deal,” and walked away. Then I came home and the thought of that poor chair started haunting me. It was $4.99 – a measly $5 – why in the world didn’t I buy it??? The next morning I woke up and decided that I HAD to have the chair. So, I got dressed, went to town and headed ... continue reading...
DIY distressed canvas photo art
Photo canvases are a bit of a newish trend. They are beautiful, and if you can catch them on sale then they’re a decent deal, but if you want to do a dozen to fill up a wall… well let’s just say that the total would be close to that of my 1st car. There are tons of tutorials all over the interwebs on how to do it with gel medium, but I didn’t have any of that… and you know I’m a use what you have girl. So, what I had was DecoArt Decoupage. And I had to try to see if it would work – and it ... continue reading...
Coffee Sack Bar Stool
You’ve probably seen this barstool a dozen or so times if you’ve been hanging around these parts very long – it sits in my kitchen on the revolving wall of art work. I bought it forever and a half ago for $5 at Goodwill, money very well spent, I’d say :) In my batch of coffee sacks, there were a couple that had a yummy teal stripe & lettering – coffee sack and teal all in one? Uhhh… YAY! I had been saving these extra special lovelies for the perfect project – and I think I mighta found ... continue reading...
Coffee Sack Curtain Tutorial
The adventure of making something every day for our home is kind of a double edged sword – it makes me really look to see what we need (because I don’t want to waste supplies on projects that end up at Goodwill), but it also makes me see all the imperfections that I ignored for too long. Take this door – this is the room you shall never lay eyes upon. It’s the forbidden clutter room. Yep, it’s where off season storage is, along with abandoned projects, more supplies than you can shake a stick ... continue reading...
