Taking care of yourself {and a giveaway!}

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been using the same skin care products for years and years (or… ummmm… maybe a couple of, dare I say, decades.) Just the thought of trying something new is a little daunting. Once I got past the idea of forsaking my long-time favorite brand and tried something new, I realized rather quickly that change may not be such a bad thing after all.

As moms, we’re notorious for taking care of everyone else first. Between shuttling kids back and forth here and there, making sure breakfast, lunch and dinner are accounted for, cleaning the house, and checking homework, the list goes on and on. We always put ourselves last. However, as a mom, I’ve learned that I really need to show my girls that putting me first is a good thing. I need to be taken care of to ensure that they are well taken care of, and skin care is at the top of that list for me. I want them to learn good lifelong habits so they learn to take care of themselves, as well.

When I was asked to try Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser and Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF 15, I was a little skeptical. I mean, I am that girl with her tried and trusted department store brand that I’ve been using forever and ever. But, I thought maybe it was time to try something new. I mean… I’m not getting any younger. And the stuff I used as a teen may not be the best thing for my age now. So, I decided to give it a try – and I’ve gotta admit, I was really impressed!

It was a big change, I went from being a “bar” girl to this liquid in a pump bottle. I went from feeling like all of the oil was washed away, to feeling like it’s clean, but still moisturized and even a bit smoother.

I’m always game to try a new rug or throw pillow… but skin care was almost robotic for me. I didn’t think, I didn’t change, it was just what I did. It’s not any harder than before, but I love the new results. I’m so glad I stepped away from the bar and tried something new!

Want to try it for yourself? Cetaphil brand is sharing a $3 off coupon for two Cetaphil products. Click here to save up to $3.

  1. Noxema! Kind of boring, aren’t I? LOL

  2. It might sound funny, but plain old olive oil! I use “regular” moisturizers on my hands throughout the day (and right now am trying Cetaphil for the first time – funny!) but the one thing I cannot imagine doing without is a small bit of olive oil mixed with water as an all-over moisturizer smoothed over wet skin before I get out of the shower. It is the ONLY thing that has ever stopped the prickly feeling of winter-dry skin after a shower!

  3. OLAY Quench Plus age defying lotion. I keep this in the shower. When I shower and finish shaving my legs, I lather OLAY on my legs, soft soft soft! And the softness stays!

  4. https://twitter.com/ tweeted it. Thanks!

  5. I must admit that I do not take incredible care of my skin 🙁 The best product I own right now is makeup remover! Thanks for the giveaway!

  6. I use Cetaphilfacial cleanser daily and have for years. I love Coconut Oil (thick, goop in a jar found by the vegetable oil products in a grocery store) as a moisturizer for legs and arms. I have not found the perfect night-time facial moisturizer yet….still looking for that miracle cream.

  7. My St Ives Apricot Scrub Timeless Skin, it not only exfoliates but leaves my skin feeling less dry. Thanks!

  8. My Lancôme moisturizer makes my skin feel great.

  9. My daily moisturizer! Can’t go out without it!

  10. I use Oil of Olay facial cleanser. It does the job.

  11. I couldn’t live without my daily face wash. Although I need my moisturizer, too!

  25. While I love the pricey brands, I have always been a go to girl for the Purpose brand of skin care. It was an automatic decision and have been doing it for years. Of course I would try something new.

    Thanks Gina.

  75. I can’t live without my lip balm!! I keep one by my bed and one in my purse.

  76. I use Cetaphil Cleanser and Moisturizer every day. I don’t think I could cleanse without moisturizing and I’d never apply lotion without cleansing first! (so, I can’t name just one skin-care product, I need to name two!)

  77. Of all the skin care products I own, I cannot live without lotion! My skin will be all too tight and dry. In summer, I like to use a product that is water base, which is lighter. But I need rich and creamy lotion in the winter for sure!

  78. I sometimes buy stuff out of the whim, sometimes not. Like to use Paula’s Choice products. Cannot live without lipgloss and eyeliner, and night time lotion.
