I’d say I have a confession, but the truth is, it’s no secret that I love a gorgeous piece of farmhouse style furniture. The same goes for my love of armchairs. The vision of curling up in a great armchair and reading a book by the fire, or simply enjoying the morning coffee brings me so much joy. Recently, I redecorated my studio and instantly fell in love with the idea of having four armchairs facing each other in the center of the room. A place for us to gather and collaborate and come up with ideas.
It turned out that the vision I had in my head just wouldn’t work with the area I was in but I found so many great options that I couldn’t help but want to share them with you instead.

How to arrange armchairs
Specific placement of armchairs will vary on the size and shape of your room, but generally speaking, you want your armchairs to face the direction of the conversation. If you have two placed next to a couch they should either be flanking the couch (facing inwards), or you can have both on one side to create an L shaped sitting area.
When placing armchairs next to a fireplace, take note if there are other seating options in the area. If your couch is across from the fireplace then you could place the armchairs on either side of the fireplace, facing the couch at an inward angle. Bonus points if you have swiveling armchairs because you could turn them towards the fireplace and enjoy the warmth on a winter night.
How to clean armchairs
My best advice for cleaning armchairs is to use natural products as much as possible. Kids and pets tend to put things in their mouths, so avoiding harsh chemicals is always smart, if possible. To read my full post about how to clean furniture, you can click here.
