There’s something about old barn wood that gets me every time. The weathered, sunbathed look is just so gorgeous. It reminds me of all the things I love – sunshine, country life, and family. Thankfully it’s easy to find in rural communities, and there are so many ways to give it new life!
Here are some of my favorite ideas from Blogland. (Some of them aren’t even made with real barn wood, so if you’re smack dab in the middle of a metropolis, no worries – you can make new wood look like barn wood easily by whitewashing it with this tutorial I found on Making It In the Mountains. Worthing Court also has a great tutorial on How to Make New Wood Look Like Barn Wood.)

You could welcome Fall with a wood sign like Making it in the Mountains.
The Decorated Nest made a humongous welcome sign – there’s a house you’ll want to stop by!
If you’ve got barn wood in longer lengths, why not try making a sofa table like this one from Sustain My Craft Habit?
Chatfield Court put barn wood shelves in the bedroom for an industrial feel. What do you think?
These barn wood shelves made by One Mile Home Style give it a beachier look.
Breakfast in bed gets a super country feel with this serving tray I found on AKA Design.
No matter where you live, you can give your home a little bit of a country-style Christmas with these DIY Barn Wood Trees from Refresh Restyle.
