Modern Farmhouse Bedroom Ideas

As a decorating dork, I’m here to confess that I have to do things the wrong way about 99 times before I finally land on something and get it right. Sometimes I’ll just shuffle through dozens of bedroom ideas in my head before trying something, other times I actually try things and it ends in utter failure. But, even with all of that back and forth, all those trials usually ends up leading me to a space I love. My master bedroom was no exception. It was one of the very last spaces we’ve done, but it was totally worth the wait.

As part of the What’s Your Style series, I’m supposed to explaining my style and putting a label on it. Well, I kinda hate labels, so we’ll just call my style “Things that Gina pulled together” and be done with it, m’kay? But, what I will do is tell you how I got this look.

First we started by adding a plank wall behind the bed. Before putting up the planks, we installed the scones and ran the wires down to the outlets below (which you can’t see behind the side tables) and then planked over the wires. No wall fishing – yay!

bedroom decorating tips

I made the headboard from a hollow core door, which has held up beautifully for nearly a year now. Add on some new bedding from Target and an easy zippered pillow and a DIY light fixture above – shazam!

I also made some easy lined curtains and painted my existing side tables with some leftover paint.

After installing our favorite DIY wood floors, I added in a clearance rack West Elm rug for a little softness.

Even after I *think* I’m done, I’m always tweaking. So a few months after the blog reveal, Hemingway moved in.

And just for fun, I bought a disco ball. I’m a rebel, y’all.

Somehow, someway, it just feels right. But, because rooms are ever evolving in my house, I’ve got a cool new project up my sleeve that’s coming soon (and from this very space.) Oh, the suspense!

Just beautiful, loving the clean lines and brightness of the color and feel. One question. Where do the piles of clothes land? The chair is too pretty to put the pile there? Hee hee

Hi Gina your blog is wonderful and I love your decorating ideas! But I had to totally crack up when you put “scones” on your wall instead of “sconces”…
