I absolutely love this concrete DIY project. Those outdoor lights never last very long and having this one made of concrete, I know it will last. Might have to make one myself!
I’m a concrete DIY lover! After we poured our own vnity counter top I was hooked. Love these projects and pinning!
I love your posts! As I scroll through Pinterest, I can’t believe how many times your pins are the ones I click on! And I love that you don’t have constant pop-ups for subscribing, receiving emails etc! Keep up the great work!
What do you do with any left over concrete?mel
Hi Mel,
You dispose of it π You can dump it anything you don’t mind throwing away π
I love your ideas and was going to follow your blog but the pop up adds that I can’t get rid of are way too annoying.
I’m sorry about that Leslie, unfortunately in order to cover the many costs of running a blog my size, it is necessary to have the ads. Thanks though, I’m glad you enjoy my ideas π
Hi there
Ive started making my own concrete potplants. Sometimes with sand othertimes without. I spray my moulds with spray and cook but sometimes I cant get them out. Dont know why.
Very cool Louise, maybe try another type of lubricant ? Good luck π

Try WD4
I’m having trouble with the cement my leaves are cracking
Try any silicon spray and make sure that your molds are clean before pouring.
What ratio do you use mixing the concrete?
Hey Cathy,
Every bag of concrete is different, they will give you the instructions on the bag. Have fun π
I t depends on where it will be used once it sets and dried.
For beams a the recommended ratios are:
1 cement
2 sand (fine aggregate)
3 or 4 stone (coarse aggregate)
Hi. I love you concrete works of art! How do you mould all these things? Is there a trick to it? Id love to have a go.
Hi Belinda,
They are all very different, the best thing to do is to read through the projects in the post and see what speaks to you π Good luck!
Once you get the ‘concrete bug’ it’s hard to get rid of! I love these and have branched out to making moulds as well! it is really EASY!, trust me. Pardon me if I share a trick of mould making…

Is concrete food safe? Example for cheese board? Do you use a particular sealer for food use?
You do need to seal it first. They make sealants for concrete countertops. I also heard you can use bees wax to make it food safe π
So where are your how to instructions? Thanks
You need to click on each individual project, not every project provides a tutorial π
Loved the article but the amount of ads on this site is out of hand. It is just so overwhelming and distracting.
I understand Anne, but the ads are what help to pay for the blog site, it costs quite a bit to run a blog of this size and I love being able to share things with my readers π
Having a problem with consistency of concrete. Can you advise? Thanks. Bonnie
