Creamsicle Cocktail

Apparently I’m a big fan of tarnishing childhood treats, because it’s my favorite way to create new cocktails – take a familiar flavor and bring it to life with a little splash of happy. I’ve done it before with my Kahlua Coke Float, and this time I’m doing it again with a Creamsicle Cocktail. If you love the flavor of orange and cream all at once, this cocktail is for you. It’s sort of a spin on a screwdriver, but way more delicious.Creamsicle Cocktail

Creating this cocktail is super easy:

Ingredients:

  • 3 oz. orange juice
  • 1.5 oz. marshmallow vodka (I like Smirnoff)

Directions:

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then pour in the juice and vodka. Shake for 10-15 seconds (until well chilled.) Pour into a glass half filled with crushed ice (because it’s best when kept really cold.)

Garnish with an orange and that’s it.

See – super, duper easy! It would be perfect for making by the pitcher at parties or serving for brunch. It seriously is like drinking the beloved popsicle treat…. yet all grown up.

I guess I live too far out in the sticks to find Marshmallow Vodka. I have bought Whipped, though, and it is like CoolWhip flavor. You think that would work?

I couldn’t find marshmallow vodka at my neighborhood liquor store, so I bought whipped cream flavored vodka instead. This still came out fantastic. It’s like a grown-up version of an orange creamsicle except you can drink it and it gives you (at least it did me) a pleasant buzz. The guys at the liquor store smirked when I asked for marshmallow vodka. I knew what they were thinking. I told them that I like girly, fruity, frou frou drinks and I was proud of it.
