Crockpot Toffee Pecan Apple Crisp Recipe

Having a good apple crisp recipe is pretty essential for fall, don’t you think? And this one is made in a crock pot – so that’s a bonus, right? With only a few ingredients, you can throw it all in a slow cooker and have dessert with minimal effort. Because, let’s face it – dessert is the most important meal of the day πŸ™‚

Toffee pecan apple crisp recipe made in a slow cooker!

CROCK POT APPLE CRISP RECIPE

I do love apple crisp recipe but I will admit this was my first time trying it in a crock pot and… oh my word.  Talk about easy and the house smelled amazing too.

And it would be even better by adding some toffee chips and pecans to the top, right?

Super easy and Delicious Toffee apple pecan crisp crockpot recipe

This took almost no time to throw together and it was delicious!

Here’s a handy tip to remember if you are making a crisp style dessert in a slow cooker.  Once the dessert is done baking, turn off the slow cooker and remove the lid, shaking off excess liquid from the steam and wipe it dry.  Replace the lid leaving it cracked by about an inch while the dessert cools for an hour and this will help the top become even crispier.

Slow Cooker Toffee Pecan Apple Crisp Recipe

By ALittleCLAIREification.com / Inspired by Pillsbury

INGREDIENTS

  • 6 medium-size crisp tart apples peeled if desired, cut into 1/2-inch-thick slices (about 6 cups)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup toffee bits (I used Heath)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Spray 3 – 4 quart slow cooker with cooking spray.
  2. In large bowl, mix apples and cinnamon to coat.
  3. Place the apples in the slow cooker and turn the heat to LOW.
  4. In a medium bowl, mix oats, brown sugar, flour and butter with pastry blender or fork until crumbly.
  5. Stir in pecans and toffee bits. Sprinkle crumb mixture evenly over apples.
  6. Cover; cook on LOW for 4 to 6 hours.
  7. Serve apple crisp warm with ice cream if desired,
  8. If you’d like the apple slices to retain their shape and have a slightly firm texture, use the low end of the cook time range.

    Hi Claire,
This looks AMAZING!! Thank you for posting it.
I want to try this up at our camp. Do you know if it would work if I doubled or even tripled the recipe? I have a large crock pot that could easily fit it. I need to feed 24 people.
Thanks so much for the help if you can.

Made this for the 4th of July weekend and it was great!! Loved the simplicity of the recipe and the end result was so delicious. I know I used more pecans than the recipe called for and toasted them first, but other than that I followed your recipe to the letter, cooked for about 4 1/2 – 5 hours on low and it was perfect! (In fact, I’m having some for breakfast today!)

That’s fantastic, Karen!! So glad you enjoyed it! And you can never go wrong with extra nuts. Or toffee chips. I probably used more than I called for too. πŸ˜‰ Have a wonderful week!
