Day 3 – 12 Days of Handmade Christmas in July

Gift cards are some of the most popular holiday gifts.
Give them some personality with this great idea from
Stephanie of Parker’s Prints!
Gift Wrapping Gift Cards
The next time you give a gift card,
why not spice up the wrapping in a creative way?
If food/beverage places are on your gift card list, simply ask for a to go container with when buying the gift card!
Examples:
Coffee/beverage place: get an (unused!) empty to go cup
Burger/fast food restaurant: get a burger box or fry box
Chinese restaurant: get a to go box (like the ones you’d get rice or noodles in)
Pizza restaurant: get a small pizza box
You will need:
  •
    Wrapping paper

  • Tissue paper
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Ribbon
  • Bow
  • Tag
  • Box
  • Gift Card
  • To go container
Instructions:
*For this demonstration, I picked a Starbucks gift card.
I just asked for a tall, hot beverage cup when I purchased it.
Gather all the supplies listed above.
Get a small tag and write the amount of the gift card or use stickers like I did. I tied a ribbon on my tag so it would be easy to see/find in the cup. Tip: when writing on the tag or gift tag, I would recommend using a marker such as a Sharpie instead of a pen.
Get a piece of tissue paper for the inside of your container. I had to cut mine so it wouldn’t fill the entire cup. Place it inside your container along with the gift card and tag. If your container has a lid, close it up.
Assemble your box. I get my boxes from Michaels in the baking section. I buy them a few at a time when they have 20% off your entire purchase coupons. They are less than $1 each. Once Christmase rolls around, I have boxes in all shapes and sizes for my gifts.
Place tissue paper inside the box and lay your container in the center neatly.
Close the box and wrap it up! Tie a ribbon around the box & adhere a big bow and gift tag.
When it comes to bows- I believe the bigger, the better.
It makes your present more appealing and it looks much more special.

Last but not least, give your present to its lucky recipient and watch their eyes light up with joy!

Thanks, Stephanie!
Be sure to check out her great shop,
it’s full of cute cards & more!

Hope you’re enjoying

I did a pizza gift card for Christmas, got a clean box from the pizza place to put it in, and made a craft paper pizza with all the toppings to fit inside the box, then I cut slits to hold the card in place. Was received so much better than if I had just handed them a card!

I like this, but I may be brained washed because I drink Starbucks at home every day.

What a cute idea you have! How dull is just handing over a gift card!! Some people don’t even like gift cards, so I’ve found out. Unbelievable to me! I loooove them and a pretty presentation makes them more thoughtful. The dislikers of gift cards have said they are thoughtless gifts. Bah Humbug to that! You’ve just proved they are full of love, time, and thoughtfulness:))

    Blessings,
    Shanna
