In our rush, rush, rush world – if you can make the holiday season a little easier with some simple ideas, take all those short cuts you can! If you’re looking for super simple gift ideas – you’ve come to the right place! I’m joining in with a few of my friends and Rockin’ the Holidays with some easy ideas – like my easy gift: a DIY decorative magnifying glass.
You’re going to need a basic magnifying glass (I found this one at Lowe’s for under $3), plus a twig that’s bigger in diameter than the handle, a small piece of sandpaper, plus a drill with drill bit.
First, cut your twig to whatever length you’d like (or follow my lead and get your husband to do it…) Sand the ends so it’s nice and smooth. You could seal it with poly if you’d like… but I didn’t.
Then use your drill (I used my Rockwell 3RILL) to drill a hole into one end, just wide enough for the screw part to be snug.
Then, unscrew the original handle and put it into your twig handle. That’s it! If it’s a little loose you could secure it with some E-6000, but mine was snug enough to not need it.
And I’ll never tell a soul that you made them a decorative magnifying glass for $3 in about a minute. Your secret is definitely safe with me.
