Painted signs are one of my favorite kinds of decor – but let’s face it: sometimes they’re overpriced. But that’s ok, because making them takes a bit of time, however you can make them for under $2 (or even cheaper if you’ve got some scrap wood!)
This easy sign has a bit of flair, but it’s super simple. This sign can be made with only a jigsaw & some paint in under an hour.
Start with a dog-eared fence boards, and cut the half circle ends. We used a paint can and cut a round out of cardboard, then used a speed square to create a straight line, found the center of the board & the center of the half circle template, traced it out and cut it with the jigsaw. The whole thing took less than 5 minutes.
Then We sanded the entire piece, front, back & edges.
Next I gave it a few coats of black paint.
I made a template for the wording, just like on my Cotton Seed Sack Table.
I basically taped together a bunch of pieces together to make all the wording I wanted.
Then, I rubbed the back of the entire piece thoroughly with a piece of chalk.
Using a ball point pen, we pressed down hard and traced the entire outline of all the letters.
Then I used a small brush to fill in all the letters & stars on the end. Then I hung it up by using screws straight through the sign into the wall ๐
And because one sign is not enough, I’ve invited a few blogger friends to share all of their DIY sign ideas, too!
