I’m certainly no artist, but I’ve been searching for how to create easy watercolor paintings for a while now. While I love a good DIY, creating art 100% from scratch just isn’t my forte. But, because I’m persistent, I figured out a method for easy watercolor paintings (even with no talent!)
This easy watercolor paintings method is super, duper simple – and it uses just a few basic craft supplies that you can find easily on Amazon. It was so easy, in fact, that I made a quick video to show you how.
All you need is watercolor paper, watercolor markers, an ink pen, and a craft knife, then you’re ready to create gorgeous artwork that you can frame or put on greeting cards… whatever you’d like!
The hardest part is to get the shading right, and with a few tries, you’ll start to get the hang of it. And also… it’s just fun to play with the markers!
If you try it, I’d love to see a pic if you want to tag me (@shabbycreek) on Instagram!

Well THAT is the coolest thing I’ve seen in awhile! I plan to try it!
Oh yea Janet!! I am so happy you like it. It was super easy and really fun, go for it!!
Hey, Gina! I think even I could do that! You did make it look simple. Thanks for sharing!
WOW girl. New way to do art. This is so cool. I could use the Kleenex boxes, they are so pretty, for a frame. Thank you so much.
Thanks Melissa, so glad you like it!!
So interesting and doable! Thanks
Thanks Nancy, it is so easy and so much fun, give it a try!
I love it! I’ve always wanted to take painting lessons. Well, thanks to your clever thinking, I just did! Thanks, I will try this very soon. I will send you a picture no matter how it turns out.
Oh yea! Please do and just have fun with it!!
Oh, Gina! I luv, luv, luv this! Going to try it today. Thank you for sharing. And I love the VW bug your daughter did. Awesome!
Thanks so much Gail, I was quite impressed by her watercolor skills!
YOU just do the most fun stuff … I’m going to give it a try myself, thank you !
LOVE THIS and your step-by-step video is so encouraging because you take the guess work out of the process. Yep, this definitely goes on the “Fun Stuff, Gotta Do” list. [Anxious to try this using some cut outs from last year’s Christmas cards … weeeeeeeeeeee!]
Thank you Melinda, go have fun with it!!
