Studio sources: my favorite farmhouse decor

Farmhouse decor is my favorite kind – it’s simple and comfortable (and usually very affordable). Using found objects also adds a lot of interest, but as hard as I tried I couldn’t find everything at the flea market or with second hand shopping. So I did a lot of leg work to create the studio of my dreams. A lot of you asked where I found all the lovely things, so I wanted to share all of my sources.

Let’s start with the paint. Benjamin Moore provided us with all the paint for this project – and it took a LOT of paint. We used Affinity interior in eggshell in Steam and is a warm, comfortable white. With 17 ft ceilings at the peak, including all the ceiling & walls, and the fact that they were bare wood to start with there are 15 gallons of paint on the interior walls alone. We used a sprayer and the finish is smooth and beautiful.

Gorgeous farmhouse style studio (she-shed). This woman and her husband built it all by themselves and it's simply stunning. Love every tiny detail!

The exterior is Aura Exterior in eggshell finish in Midnight Dream. We used Hardie siding and because it is already primed, we painted the whole thing with only 5 gallons. It was truly one coat coverage. The door and the windows came from Southern Accents Architectural Antiques in Cullman, AL.

Ok, I’m guessing you’re reading because you want to get to the good stuff, so let’s get to it!

Gray Pouf: I found this one at Homegoods – but it’s identical to this gray pouf from Wayfair.

Reclaimed wood side table: you can find a similar one here

Gina – this she is amazing. I love it. What a great job. It looks so neat and tidy. I’d have never thought of using toolboxes, but it works and it looks good with the decor.

Gina, that love for aqua would make for a great coastal cottage flair and theme. I like your restraint not to clutter or overdo. I try to put out everything I own, all at once.

I know it sounds nosy, but I actually want to build this in my yard… so I’m wondering if you would be willing to share more details about the cost breakdown. I want to know how long it’ll take me to save up for it. Thank you!

How beautiful. I have a sewing room that takes two bedrooms…full. I realize that you and your husband created this wonderful getaway but are there plans that could be purchased?
