Welcome to the our annual farmhouse home tour! I’ve been hosting this event every year for quite a while now, and this year I’ve invited a few of my favorite farmhouse style bloggers to join me as we share a small bite of summer living in our homes.
If you’re new around here, welcome! Pull up a mason jar of sweet tea & sit a spell as we take a quick tour of our home.
So here’s the quick backstory: About 15 years ago, my husband and I bought my childhood home from my parents. Eventually we began to remodel the house to fix things that had fallen into disarray & make it our own. So the writer in me decided to start a blog to be a virtual scrapbook. And now you’re here… crazy, huh? It’s been a long road on our remodeling journey – ten years to be exact. And I’m so glad you’re here!
This is where we started versus where we were at the end of last summer from my Instagram. I didn’t snap a pic this week because we’re in full landscaping mode – but that post is coming in just a couple of weeks… so stay tuned!
As you step in the front door of our home tour, you’ll walk into our living room. I shared the entire makeover on last year’s summer tour… and other than a few accessories it looks almost the exact same.
I don’t tend to change the anchor pieces much like furniture, rugs & curtains. I’m a firm believer in buying great quality once and making the most of it.
However I do have a “thing” for mixing in fresh flowers as much as possible.
Moving on to our kitchen. This room was the first space we remodeled, although it has been updated with fresh paint on the cabinets, light swap outs & a few other things here and there.
Although it’s been a workhorse for nearly a decade, this is all going to be different by next summer’s home tour as we are completely gutting it this summer and reworking the entire layout. It’s exciting & scary all at the same time.
Beside the kitchen is our laundry room. This is the most recent room to get a makeover around here and you can see the full before and after on
We did the entire space in a weekend by making just a few simple changes to strip down the space and make it far more functional.
Give me function over form any day of the week π
Want to be our guest? Since we’re empty nesters, the guest room gets used quite often for friends who come to hang out here at the cottage for a day or two.
This makeover was done last year after our baby girl moved out – and it’s been such a delight to have a space where our friends and family can relax and enjoy our country life for a while.
It was another weekend makeover – I’m pretty fond of those since I’m impatient and want things done now. If only I could “Mary Poppins” a makeover… wouldn’t that be swell?
And then there’s our master bedroom. This room has pretty much looked the same for years now. The blanket gets changed out, as well as the accessories from time to time, but it’s kind of comforting to rest in the space you love every day.
The side table gets changed up ALL THE TIME… but everything else remains the same.
So that’s it for our farmhouse style summer home tour! I’m so glad you stopped by the cottage to hang out for a spell, but be sure to visit my friends and see their beautiful homes, as well!

Gina – your home is so welcoming and beautiful. I love that I have been able to grace this property to see it’s gorgeousness in person. Each time I see a pic from your home, I know exactly whose it belongs to!
Your color in your home is what inspired me to add my favorite hues to my home and I love that!
Thank you for inviting me to join you today. I’m honored to be considered and over the moon happy to be included!
