I love jute rugs – to me they are one of the most beautiful farmhouse rugs out there. My husband… not so much! But after reading a few reviews online, we decided on one for our living room, so that’s what we’re going to chat about today. I’ve been getting quite a few questions about where it came from and if what my opinion is after living with it for a while… so let’s dive in.

We bought THIS RUG – the NuLoom Chunky Jute Loop Rug from Amazon – back in April. I had read a ton of reviews on it, and the number one thing I saw over and over was that it was incredibly soft for a jute rug. And they were spot on. It’s such a comfortable rug underfoot…. which I would have never guessed in a million years from a jute rug. Usually they are stiff and scratchy and soft never enters your mind. But this one is. It’s so soft, in fact, that I’m ordering another for my bedroom.
The caramel tone of it isn’t too green or orange, it’s as perfect as a natural jute rug can get.
Then there’s the texture. Here’s a close up look at it (with the darkness adjusted) so you can really get the details of it. And can we just discuss that fringe? Hubba, hubba!
I also get a few questions about cleaning: Is it hard to keep clean? Not at all. It vacuums like all my others (which if I’m being honest probably isn’t often enough.) There’s a bit of shedding at first, but after a few vacuumings it gets better. It doesn’t show dirt, and as a girl living in the country, trust me when I tell you that it’s been thoroughly tested ๐ We’ve had a couple of pet accidents which cleaned up easily with a damp cloth. Although I don’t allow my little grandsons to have any drinks on it, that’s just as much for keeping my furniture clean as it is the rug. It was always a rule around here, so no big adjustment. (Feel free to ask any other questions in the comments.)
It has become one of my favorite go-to farmhouse rugs, because you just can’t beat that texture, color & feel. Would I buy it again? Absolutely!
Looking for more farmhouse rugs? All of these are from Amazon (hello – Prime shipping!) and are all $200 for an 8×10 rug. That’s crazy cheap, huh? Now here’s the big question…. WHICH ONE IS YOUR FAVORITE?

Would you be able to re-link it please?
Thank Gina.

Have a great day and thanks again!!
Great timing on rugs! I have #10 rug in the white. Love it! Looking for a rug for a boy nursery. What would you recommend. The jute rug you have, maybe in grey, bleach or blue????
Is your jute rug too hard for a baby to crawl/play on for a bedroom?
My grandson plays on it all the time – it’s actually really soft.
Ohhh, thanks!!!! I think we will go with this just rug. Is yours the natural or the beige color? THANKS!!!!
Hi Allie,
It really depends on the colors in your nursery but the word blue jumped out at me when I read your comment ๐ I love that rug, all of the colors are so pretty, I don’t think you could go wrong! Good luck ๐
Love the rugs but also love your woven shades. Any info available on those?
Hi Sherry,
Thanks so much! Here is a link to where I got my woven shades, https://bit.ly/2wjWuZI
I hope that helps ๐
Love all the rugs! #2 tho
I also think your couches look amazing… where are they from??
Thanks Christie, we got them from Pottery Barn, and yes #2 is amazing ๐
I’ve been looking for a new rug for the family room and this one fits the bill!! It looks from your pictures that you posted one of the bleached and the natural rug, Is the bleached really light? Which one is in your picture under your grey sofa? Thanks so much!!
Hi Jana,
We have the natural and love it. It hides everything, LOL:) The bleached looks beautiful, but I have not seen it in person. I have young Grandsons, pets and a husband, so the natural was the right color for us ๐ Hope you love your new rug!
How is this rug on wood floors as far as sliding around?
Hi Juanita,
We have wood floors and have no issues at all with the rug slipping around. We just love it!!
Can you give me some information about where you got your sectional? Thank you.
I got it from Pottery Barn Kristine ๐
Thank you for sharing
Love all of these. Difficult to choose. Thanks for narrowing it down, though.
I absolutely adore the giant wicker basket youโre using as a side table. May I ask where you got that? Iโve looked and looked for something like that! Simply splendid! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
Thank you for sharing!

Thanks so much Laura, I found it on a fun road trip and was so excited to find it! It was a one of a kind though so I am sorry to not be able to tell you where you can get one.
Thank you for sharing these tips and for your recommendation. I’m happy that people are still interested in rugs.
If you’re visiting Minneapolis, I’d recommend Cyrus Artisan Rugs. They have all kinds of rugs. Though their price range is a bit high as they say they offer artisan rugs. Btw, their showroom is like a museum. I even saw their place included in TripAdvisor as a destination. Just want to share my experience with them.
Btw, I got my interesting area rug that really suit my rustic home online in their website.
Wow, thanks so much for the tip Melissa, I may have to check them out ๐
Interested in the natural jute rug you posted ..for your livingroom.Did you purchase the nonskid extra pad?. Does it hold up well to traffic? I really don’t want to puchase it if its not made well..please comment..thanks.
Hey Judy, I did not buy the nonskid pad and have never had an issue with it moving and it has worn beautifully, we love it, best rug ever!!
Hi Gina. It all looks amazing. But Off topic. Th shelf behind your couch is what I need to know about. LOL. Details please! Thank you!
Thanks Jamie, what shelf are you referring to?
I love, love, love my jute rugs in my kitchen and would love to have them in other rooms but find with the brand I ordered on Amazon, the Roomba vacuum has a hard time crawling up and down.
Beautiful house and great website, happy I stumbled across it.
Thanks so much Jane! I love my jute rugs too!
Hi there! Not sure if youโll receive this since this post is a few years old. I read that you have pets… I have 3 dogs, how do their nails do with this rug? Iโve seen a lot of reviews on other sites that the slightest traffic causes the jute loops to pull up. Curious how pets nails are with this particular rug. Thanks so much!
Hi Shannon, I have not had any issues with my rug pulling and I’ve had it for years with pets and grandkids too, LOL I hope that helps!
Gina, I love this picture of your living room and have saved it on my computer for some time now. My furniture is a medium gray, leaning towards charcoal. What shade of blind would you go with? Would the same color of curtain you have work as well? Where did you get them? Thanks so much!
