Hi everyone here at The Shabby Creek Cottage and a very HAPPY and Blessed Thanksgiving to you all. It’s Andrea from The Cottage Market, it so great to be back here at the Creek with all of you again, I have missed you! When Gina asked me to make a quick and easy ornament for you I was thrilled…so I put my thinking cap on and came up with one that is literally completed in minutes! Ok…there is a little prep work…but when you have it all in front of you…you can load up Santa’s Sleigh with a team of reindeer in a snap! So Let’s make some Wood Slice Reindeer Ornaments!
All you are going to need is some wood slices. Get that hand saw out and slice off a few from a fallen branch. Just make them thick enough so you can drill 2 little holes in the side for the antlers. Then collect some fallen twigs…the more little teeny branches the better. Then you need some ribbon…twine or even wool. For the nose I used little wood plugs that are available at hardware stores…craft stores or any large chain, the work perfectly. You can however just use pom poms and they would be perfect!
Take your wood slice and drill little holes into the sides nearer the top…right where the antlers would be.
Then snip off your little twig…dab a little bit of glue on the end and put the twig into the hole just like a tinker toy!
Repeat on the other side…take your nose…it can be the pom pom…a painted wood cap…or if you are looking to have a Rudolph…I painted my wood cap red then covered it with glue and dipped it in red glitter…so easy…so cute..now glue it right in the center. Add a bow if you like and a hanging bow. You could make these into magnets also. Easy as easy can be! There you have it…a little reindeer wood slice ornament.
Make tons of them! You know Santa needs a good solid team!
When the kids get involved I think there will be tons of different nose colors…don’t you!
So slice up that wood and if you can’t…I know wood slices are available in your favorite craft store!
A great craft for the whole family. It’s Quick & Easy, simple and very very very budget friendly! Hope you have tons of fun making them and then of course it is time to hang out with them too and admire your Holiday Creation!
Hope to see you all again soon! Sending Holiday Hugs to all! Hope you stop by to visit sometime during the holidays over at The Cottage Market.
All week this week I’ll be sharing some great handmade ornament ideas from a few of my friends – with a link party on Friday to share YOUR handmade Christmas ornament ideas. Hope you’ll join me!

Very sweet ornament idea. I wish I had seen this yesterday as we hand out ornaments on Thanksgiving. I have all these materials at the house. Perhaps I can make some of these for my own tree. Happy thanksgiving!

What a great idea I have been thinking about Christmas place settings and your idea is my solution. Instead of placing the bow just below the nose, I’m going to write out their names> I will glue a bow on the bottom
Thank you so much for sharing
