Mr. SCC built me a big ole sign by putting together boards with a cleat connecting them all on the back with boards used as cleats. I used DecoArt Ebony (my fave stain), watered it down and rubbed it into the wood, then wiped it all off to get a greyed out tone.
To paint the letters, I used the carbon paper method to trace them out onto the sign, with a print out that I made with the words using the font A Love of Thunder. Once it was all traced out, I painted the letters with Decoart Designer Series paint {the texture of the paint and distressing qualities are perfect for this project.} After it dried, I lightly wiped it down with a wet cloth to distress the letters a bit.

Once it was dry, it went up in my kitchen for all to see. Now…. who wants a glass of tea?
