White Paint Colors: rooms that get it right

Did you know there are over 1000 different shades of white paint colors? Think about all of the different people who make white paint and you’ll quickly add up all the different shades they carry to be a big, confusing mess on which white is the right white. Which is why it’s good to see what it looks like in other people’s homes so you can get a good feel for it. However, you still need to test in your own home to make sure it looks good in your own light.

So let’s take a look at a few to get you started in the right direction…

The top photograph of the kitchen with the lady getting something out of cabinet has a island. Could you tell me brand or offer a link for plans to build one like it? This one is so much like the one on hallmark home and family that I have envied for months and months. Home and family had no idea where theirs came as they did not build it for show. Thank you for any help. You do wonderful informative blogs. I am a new subscriber and wanted to say thank you for taking time to post them. God bless

Oh how I love white walls and those are some beautiful options! Our dining room is Swiss Coffee by Behr, so I’m another fan of that shade, and our shiplap is painted Polar Bear, also by Behr. Great post!

Love all the whites and I want to do just that when we move in a couple months! But for now we are updating our house, getting it ready to put on the market. I’ve bought paint for a bathroom and I let the paint guy talk me into getting semigloss instead of my regular satin finish. Can I do anything to dull the finish like your chalk paint without compromising the paint finish too much? Don’t want to waste $30 gallon of paint or have baaad walls!

      Hi Pam,

Sorry, but I don’t think you can change the finish after the fact 🙁 You could take it back to your paint guy and ask. Chalk paint is fairly pricy, much more expensive than regular paint so I am not sure you want to go that route. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful, good luck!!
