Ingredients
4granny smith applespeeled, cored and diced
4golden delicious applespeeled, cored and diced
juice of 2 Meyer lemonsor regular lemons if you prefer
1/2cupof light brown sugar
1tspcinnamon
pinchof salt
For the topping:
1/2cupof granulated sugar
1/2cupbrown sugar
1cupall purpose flour
3cupsold fashioned oats
6TBSbuttercold in small cubes
2TBSmaple syrup
1/2cupvery cold water
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, mix together all of the ingredients until throughly combined and put into an un-greased 9x13 baking pan.
In the bowl of a mixer, place in the first five ingredients (all the dry plus butter) and mix with a paddle on medium speed until butter is broken up into small pebbles. (You can also do this with a dough cutter.) Then, add in the maple syrup and combine a few more seconds. After the syrup is distributed, add in the water, 1/4 cup at a time, until you have a crumbly consistency. Scatter the mixture on top of the apple filling and bake in a 350 degree oven for 1 hour.
After baking, let the crisp cool for a few minutes before serving. If you wanna up the ante, add a scoop of ice cream for an out of this world experience.
