Welcome to the 2nd year anniversary of Transformation Thursday! It’s the one day of the week we all get together to celebrate getting stuff done. No matter if you’ve been coming around for months (or years), or this is your very first transformation rodeo – everyone is welcome to link up your projects at the bottom of this post. I can’t believe it’s been two whole years! Thanks to each & every one of you for showing up each week and hanging out with me here at the cottage – I’m truly honored that you come to visit.
Before we get started - Did you see my big announcement earlier today? No? Well go check out how you can win $10,000 – seriously!![]()
Remember that yucky stuff I showed you a few weeks ago?
Well it ain’t yucky no more!
My big celebratory post this week is a little space, but it’s all mine. I finally – FINALLY – have an office! I’ve been running my blog and my business from my kitchen (which is also my “studio”) and I have to admit that things get lost, I get a little irritable & it just downright didn’t work.
When we originally began working on our guest house, we thought we were going to have a new family member come to live with us. Well plans changed and our guest house is just that – for guests. It didn’t make a lot of sense for us to have the space that would rarely get used, though. After our family addition fell through, Mr. SCC asked “Why don’t you use part it for your office?” And so, my friends, that’s exactly what I did.
All of the walls have been striped, fixed, and beautified with some board & batten action – oh yeah! A little white paint (Popcorn by Dutch Boy) goes a long, LONG way. Like my desk? She’s a beaut! We took an old, homeless table that had been in the barn for a couple of years, removed the tattered top and added skirts & a new plank style top. Lots of room for bloggy bliss!
Thrifted baskets and a suit case hold important papers and my favorite old magazines {that I just can’t bear to part with}. I may have to paint that suitcase white, a la Sarah…
A coffee sack memo board in a frame that I pulled from the Goodwill pile awaits me to buy some push pins. I’m thinkin’ I might want some of the pretty ones to help hold up my important stuffs.
My own little Paris Postmark Pot holds my pens & markers and is a piece that I still love even after making hundreds of them.
No room would be complete without at least one starfish making it’s appearance.
A repurposed chair and lamp come in handy. I just added a new pillow to my space, which goes really well with the curtains. A little off the beaten path for me, huh? Yep! I went bold this time, and made proper drapes – lined and everything (Polly will be so proud!) For $6 a yard fabric, it’s pretty spectacular.
Notice the curtain rods? They’re bamboo poles from the Dollar Tree, coated in my beloved Satin White Krylon. Not bad for $1! Add some rings from Big Lots ($5.50 for a pack of 14), and they’re a big statement.
Sigh. I’m already loving the peace & quiet of writing all by myself :) And, since this is in the guest house, you can get a little feel for how it’s gonna look. That one’s comin’ next week, so hang on to your britches!
Signing off my my own little corner of the world….
Sooooooo……. whatcha got? I wanna see – and so does everybody else! Please put your PERMALINK into the linky – and link back here so everyone can find all the great ideas. Please, please, PLEASE – pretty please DO NOT LINK TO A SHOP!!! Be sure to visit your neighbors (the one above & below you) and have fun – it is a party after all.
Welllllllll…………. Let’er rip, tater chip!

ReplyDeleteI appreciate the exposure of link parties so I just wanted to let you know! Hope you have a great day!
Really lovely job! I am redoing my office space. Hope it turns out as nice . . .
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting. Is this that free camper you got? I love your new office. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteYou deserve this office Gina. It looks neat, cool, sassy, and so chic. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteBTW, how many hours did you spend fixing and redecorating your home office? I'm also a stay-at-home office mom. I've been planning for days now a new home office for myself. I just can't decide on the layout.
Thanks, y'all!
ReplyDelete@Amelia @ Home Decors Mr. SCC spent about 3 weeks working on his 3 days off to rip it all out, put it all back & trim it out. It took him, Lala & me 2 days to paint it all out (the entire space). The desk took about a hour to build and 30 mins to paint - curtians & pillows were about another hour, 30 mins for the corkboard, then maybe 2 more hours of final touches. Altogether it took about 12 days of 16-18 hour days (that's how we roll!)
Photos, etc. is a whole 'nother batch of time, though :)
Wow, I'm link up number 400! What a par-tay. Looking forward to working my way through the posts. Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteYour office looks great. Paint indeed works wonders. Fun curtains and accessories too. I'm looking forward to the rest of the reveal, Gina.
