interior designed home office
My home office makeover is finally complete! You’ve waited for weeks as I talked about every inch of all the projects, being very patient as I had a lot to do. It’s been a drastic change from when the room was a working studio to create items for my (currently closed) shop, to bringing it into a space for me to concentrate on writing. Now that it’s all finished, today I’m sharing all of the elements that came together, from Ikea curtains to hand built (by Mr. SCC) cabinets, to help me create my new home office. I’m so excited to be able to finally have a space that gives me room to create projects for the blog, but also have a calm environment for me to be able to hone in on blogging. The black and white farmhouse infused scheme seems so far away from the former blue walls…. so let’s take a look at where we are now.
The black wall along the back isn’t chalkboard, but just regular latex paint, because the thought of all the messy chalk dust was more than I could handle.
I started with the table (my former dining room table), the now green bookshelf, and a small console cabinet. I added in a lot of handmade touches, including the word sign above.
Lots of little touches, like putting together my every day necessities on a tray helps keep me moving quickly through my day.
But I gotta keep it pretty, too 😉 My faceted bud vases were made just because, and I’m happy to see that the girls enjoy keeping the fresh flowers in there for me.
In front of a vintage chair sits my new ottoman (that I made from a cable spool), along side a vintage table from my late aunt Linda. I know it’s not white and I know it’s way too chippy – but that table means more to me than anything else in the entire room.
Then there’s my book lamp. Sigh. Ya’ll know I have a sweet spot for unique lighting – and this one just takes the cake.
Even with off the shelf lighting, I add a little DIY spin to it. It’s like I just can’t help myself!

Wow I love the transformation! I never would have thought to paint the wall black but it looks amazing. I especially love your that you converted your dining table to desk/work area. It works perfect. Have a lovely week! Love, Wanda
Wow is all I can say! I can imagine that it’ll be great to work in there. I love the colors, the curtains, the furniture (!) and especially the floor! And is has so much space to move and breathe.
I wish you a lot of fun and good times in there! It was worth the work in my eyes 🙂
Much love and a good week, Dina
It’s really great Gina. And about your little table, I just love it. No way that’s too chippy. The colors are also great. I think that you’ve created a nice spot to work and write interesting things for us. Have a nice week, Pascale
What a beautiful spacious office ( my is so tiny it’s ridiculous ) and I can’t imagine having a desk with so much room – LOVE the desk – everything is pretty special looking – but I LOVE the desk! The chippy table is perfect too ( but did I mention that I LOVE you desk lol? )

Very pretty. I love the chippy table and that it has meaning to you!
I love how the faceted bud vases pop against the black wall and green bookshelf, and I agree with the others, the chippy table is perfect! For practical reasons, that long table/desk/work space is my favorite part. So much room to create, and such a serene environment to do it in. Great job!
You did a fabulous job. I especially like the corner area with that fabulous stool!
Love it! Especially that amazing cabinet that your hubby built. I can totally relate to how nice it is to close the doors and have that visual clutter go away. Congrats on your awesome office!
Cute, and I really Like the Table!
The desk is fantastic, my favorite of the room, and something tells me tomorrows announcement might cause the desk to get messy.
