Easy memory ornaments

The beach is my happy place. The sound of the waves, the smell of salt air – it truly does soothe my soul. Every time we go to the beach, we always bring back a bit of sand, and I’ve had little bits from here and there for a couple of years but never knew what to do with it – but I finally figured out how to with these easy memory ornaments. It’s a super simple craft, but I know these will be around for years to come at our house.

Vacation Ornaments

Start with a strip of card stock, about 1/2 inch wide by 5 inches long. Cut a little V in the top and use rubber stamps and ink to add on where the sand came from (like Tybee Island).

Vacation Ornaments

Next put a little sand in the bottom of a small apothecary jar that has a cork lid (with the lid off.) Use tweezers to help place the paper flag in the sand.

Vacation Ornaments

Next push the cork in good and tight.

Add on a tiny eye hook (found at the craft store). It holds really well in the cork by just screwing it in by hand.

Vacation Ornaments

Add on a piece of twine for hanging and you’ve got an easy vacation memory ornament. It would also be cute for other small items that would fit into the vials, like movie ticket stubs. Imagine a tree filled with ornaments that’s full of memories – it would be amazing!

I got them from Amazon but it was several years ago. You might be able to find them at a craft store like Michaels 🙂 Good luck!
