They Can’t Legislate Our Sovereignty…

How 15 Minutes of Action and 15 Hours of Joy Can Save Us

We are living through a moment in history that feels increasingly absurd… and increasingly cruel.
Each new headline chips away at our sense of safety, our sense of reality, our sense of hope.
The chaos isn’t accidental.
It’s strategic.
When people are exhausted and terrified, they’re easier to control.

And yet – even as the world trembles – I believe more fiercely than ever that our sovereignty is untouchable.
No matter how many executive orders are signed, no matter how many rights are threatened,
they cannot legislate the spirit inside of you.
They cannot outlaw your hope.
They cannot criminalize your love.
They cannot reach your soul… unless you hand it to them.

And we are not handing it over.

My Plan of Attack: Fifteen Minutes of Resistance, Fifteen Hours of Reclamation

In a time when everything feels urgent and overwhelming, it’s easy to believe we have to spend every waking hour fighting.
But burning ourselves out doesn’t save the world — it only adds to the wreckage.

This is why I live by a simple plan:
Fifteen minutes a day fighting fascism.
Fifteen hours a day seeking joy.

  • Fifteen minutes writing letters, calling representatives, boycotting companies funding oppression.
  • Fifteen minutes speaking truth, supporting organizations doing good, refusing to look away.

And then – fifteen hours pouring life back into the world.

  • Tending my home like it’s sacred ground.
  • Growing food, growing hope.
  • Laughing with my loved ones.
  • Creating beauty.
  • Choosing softness in a hard world.
  • Building community, where humanity can thrive despite the cruelty of the system.

This is how we resist without losing ourselves.
This is how we fight fascism without becoming hollowed out by fear.

Why 15? A Sacred Number of New Beginnings

When I first shaped this practice – 15 minutes of action, 15 hours of reclamation –
I didn’t think about the number itself.
But over time, I realized: 15 carries its own quiet kind of magic.

In the language of the soul, 15 is the union of two powerful energies:

  • The 1, which calls forth leadership, courage, and the spark of new beginnings.
  • The 5, which dances with freedom, change, and growth.

Together, they become a number that whispers:

“Through change, we create new life. Through disruption, we birth new worlds.”

And when you add 1 + 5 together, you get 6 — the number of home, heart, nurturing, and community.
The number of building something worth living for.

This is the real work of our time:

  • Not just fighting back.
  • But fiercely, tenderly, audaciously building a world where love leads.

The Moral Compass Over Broken Laws

We are being governed by chaos right now; by those who would rather rule through fear than lead with integrity.
And history teaches us clearly: legality has never equaled morality.
Slavery was legal. Segregation was legal.
Anne Frank’s family was hidden by people breaking the law.

When governments lose their moral center, it becomes the sacred duty of the people to follow their own.
Our compass must point true, even when the map of the nation is on fire.

Executive orders will come and go.
Courts will battle it out.
There will be victories and losses along the way.
But none of it should shake our internal knowing.
None of it should strip away our ability to choose humanity over compliance.
They can change the laws. They cannot change our souls.

The Strategy of Exhaustion – and How We Win Anyway

Make no mistake:
One of the core tactics of authoritarian regimes is to exhaust their people.

  • Overwhelm them with scandals.
  • Normalize corruption.
  • Flood them with chaos until resistance feels futile.

But exhaustion is not inevitable.
We are allowed to choose a different way.

Every act of joy, every moment of creativity, every refusal to submit to despair —
is a middle finger to the forces trying to break us.
It is soft rebellion at its finest.

They can take away conveniences.
They can take away protections.
But they can never take away the sunrise.
They can never take away the way a seed splits open underground and becomes a garden.
They can never take away the way a human heart, given even the smallest reason, will beat harder for love than for fear.

We win by refusing to stop living.
We win by refusing to stop loving.
We win by refusing to let the darkness make us forget how much light we carry.

Fifteen Signs of Hope (A Light in the Dark)

Hope doesn’t always roar.
Sometimes it flickers — a candle against a storm.
But it is always there if we know where to look.

Here are fifteen reminders that the world is not lost… that life, goodness, and beauty are still burning strong:

  1. More people are awake than ever before.
  2. Grassroots movements are rising.
  3. Young voices are demanding better.
  4. People are growing their own food again.
  5. Neighbors are showing up for each other.
  6. Artists are creating revolutionary beauty.
  7. Communities are finding new ways to gather.
  8. Ancestral wisdom is being reclaimed.
  9. People are learning to regulate their nervous systems.
  10. Truth-tellers are refusing to be silenced.
  11. Solidarity across differences is growing.
  12. Land is being protected and restored.
  13. Innovators are reimagining how we live.
  14. More people are questioning systems instead of blaming themselves.
  15. Love keeps rising.

You are not fighting for a lost cause.
You are fighting for a world that is already being born – right here, right now, through you.

Regulating Your Nervous System: Reclaiming Your Inner Ground

Of course you feel afraid sometimes.
Of course you feel frozen.
You are not broken; you are responding exactly how a human body is designed to respond to chaos.

But you are not meant to stay frozen.
And the more you remind your body that it is safe enough to soften,
the more clearly your mind will be able to move, choose, and hope again.

Here are a few simple, powerful ways to regulate your nervous system in times like these:

  • Breathe intentionally.
Inhale for 4 counts. Hold for 4 counts. Exhale for 6 counts. Repeat.
Tell your body: We are safe enough to breathe fully.
  • Ground yourself physically.
Bare feet on the earth. A stone in your hand. A hand over your heart.
Tell your body: We belong to something older and wiser than the news cycle.
  • Practice bilateral stimulation.
Tap your right knee, then your left, back and forth. Or take slow, mindful steps.
Remind yourself: I am here. I am safe.
  • Create small rituals of care.
Light a candle. Water your plants. Stir your coffee clockwise.
    Whisper: I am nurturing life.
  • Connect with safe community.
Text a friend. Comment on a post. Smile at a neighbor.
Tell your body: I am not alone.

Each time you do one of these things,
you are telling your ancient, wise body:
“We are okay. We are still here. We are still sovereign.”

And with that reclaimed safety, your mind can rise up again –
ready to take your 15 minutes of action,
and ready to spend the next 15 hours building a world worth living for.

(PS… you can save this as a lock screen if you need the reminder.)

You Are Not Powerless. You Are Powerful Beyond Measure.

The world needs your voice.
It needs your hands.
It needs your laughter, your stubborn hope, your refusal to give up beauty just because the world looks ugly.

This is not the end.
This is the beginning of something deeper.
Something wilder.
Something sovereign.

So fight, my love.
And sing.
And plant gardens.
And hold each other close.
And know this in your bones:
They can try to legislate society, but they can never legislate your soul.

You are free.
You are powerful.
You are needed.

Right here.
Right now.
Exactly as you are.

Love you,
Mean it,
Big time,
xoxo, Gina
