How to install a shower head

Thanks to Waterpik for partnering with me on how to install a shower head

Have you ever really thought about your shower head? Other than if it works when you turn it on? I hadn’t either until I did some research recently. I never thought about water flow usage or force – or really anything other than if the shower head I was using would properly rinse the shampoo out of my hair. Recently we were given the opportunity to try the new Waterpik Torrent PowerSpray+ shower head, so I got to learn all about all of the options when it comes to shower heads. And it was super duper simple to install:

Before you install, you have to make a decision.

The first thing you have to consider is water usage. My old model used 2.5 gallons per minute, while the PowerSpray+ uses new innovations that requires only 2 gallons per minute. In in average 8 minute shower that means saving 4 gallons of water per day (per person!) With 3 people in our house x 31 days – that equals 372 gallons of water per month. Not only does it save money on my water bill, but it’s good for the environment, too. Places like Colorado and California already have the strict 2 gallons per minute guideline, so it’s a good rule to go by. INNOVATION SCORE: ★★★★★

Next let’s talk about water pressure. With the reduction of water usage, you’d think that the pressure would be affected. Nope. It actually has more pressure than my old one.  Go figure. All that shampoo rinses out quickly & easier than before. It would probably be better if I had better incoming water pressure – so I’m giving it a 4 because I’m simply not sure. PERFORMANCE SCORE: ★★★★

Do I really need a massage setting? I didn’t have one on my former shower head, so I wasn’t really sure that I’d even use it. Then I had a reallllly long day at the computer and my back was killing me. I was never as thankful for a shower in my life as I was that night. It soothed my aching back muscles in minutes. MASSAGING POWER: ★★★★★

Is there a style I love? If I left it to my husband, he would run pick one up and it might not even match our current hardware. Waterpik makes the Torrent PowerSpray+ in several finishes, including the chrome one we used. You’d never know it wasn’t there all along. STYLE SCORE: ★★★★★

Is it affordable? Absolutely! This particular model runs about $30 and you can find it at Home Depot, Target or Walmart.

Thank you for sharing the tutorial and videos, it is very useful. Usually i cleaned shower heads 1 times a week to avoid a buildup of calcium, and cleaning with vinegar or CLR (Calcium Lime Rust)
