Teen Girl Room Makeover

Teen rooms are so much fun to decorate. You can go with their personality and pull out some pretty cool ideas if you just listen to them about what they want. My Bre is no different – I listened to what she wanted, added in some pretty colors and fabrics, and in just a few weeks we pulled together her room makeover. There was a lot of DIY going on in here, so let’s take a look at the whole room!

 First, we planked the ceiling. I intended to paint the wood, but she loved the natural color, so I went with it. Less work, no pain in the neck painting, and that was that. So much easier! It’s a simple plank process that I’ll be sharing soon, but was too hard to photograph on the ceiling.

 Then there was her wall makeover. She already had the grid system in place, we just recovered some bits and painted out parts to change it from pink to grey.

 Of course, we also built her bed. I was going to show you how, but about 30 minutes into watching Mr. SCC do his magic, I knew it was WAY too complicated for me to ever try to explain. (Which is why he always builds and I always paint.)

 We also brought in a new-to-her (from my bedroom) dresser. I gave it a fresh coat of gray paint, coated the top with poly for extra protection, and moved it in. Simple 🙂 I framed some drawings and notes from her friends to create a gallery wall of her favorite things.

 And then there’s the pouf. She loves this thing! So glad I decided to make it. {And you can, too!}

Last, I made the curtains. They were a simple project, just hemming the sides and ends, then added a rod pocket to the top. Perfect for a teen room makeover, don’t ya think?

    I saw your post on FB and when I looked at the pic, I was like hmmmm…something in that room seems familiar, and then it hit me…the comforter!! I just redid my teens room and used the same one from Target!! She fell in love with it and from there started an avalanche of projects and painting! Your teen’s room looks great!

    Super cute room. I love the fun colors. We are working on my daughters teen room now. She wants it Harry Potterish without screaming Harry Potter. Wish me luck!
