Welcome to Transformation Thursday! It’s the one day of the week we all get together to celebrate getting stuff done. No matter if you’ve been coming around for weeks, months, years, or this is your very first transformation rodeo – everyone is welcome to link up your projects at the bottom of this post.

industrial drawer Y’all already know that I’m a little bit crazy. I try to keep it all to myself in real life, but occasionally it just kinda creeps out of me. A few months ago I was in a parking lot and there was this old truck with a TON of scrap metal in the back. Since I live in the deep south, that sight is pretty common. This time, however, there was a little something aqua that just begged me to take a second look.
metal drawer patina There were 3 of these drawers. Have mercy. While I was gawking at them, the owner of the truck walked up and I offered to buy them. $10 for all 3 – score!

sanding metal First I sanded them down. Since I’m not a big expert on metal – I asked my BFF who is an expert. She told me to sand it down, prime it, and then spray with the chalkboard paint. So that’s what I did. I started with a coarse grit sand paper, then smoothed it out as best as I could with a fine grit.
taped off chalkboard I taped off all the bits that I wanted to keep – you know all that good, chippy, yummy, stuff. Then I coated it with 2 coats of primer and 3 coats of chalkboard paint. Just the spray stuff – nothing fancy.

patina on drawer I think I forgot to mention that before the taping, I clear coated the outside with a sealer to keep the rust off my walls. I’m forgetful sometimes. Ok, a lot of times.
industrial drawer project Currently I’m using it for my spring travel schedule… after June I’m thinking it will get moved to my new studio. Looks like between now and then I have a lot of packing to do :)

This week I thought I’d share my favorite post from last week’s party: Kerry @ House TalkN. Oh my word. I love her hilarious take on being a better blogger. I’m officially wrangling her into my group of BFFs {although I don’t think she knows that just yet!}

Spray paint? Check! Glad I hit one of the top 5 :)

This week’s most popular link was….
