Hi there my friends! It’s Laura from Inspiration for Moms and today I have a warm comfort dessert that is perfect for the fall. Maybe it’s the teacher in me, but September is when I start craving apple recipes. My Apple Raisin Bread Pudding will put a wonderful aroma in your home and happiness in your tummy.
My husband took one bite of this dessert and then immediately asked me to make more. He ate the whole dish within 3 days. Luckily for him, this sweet treat was a cinch to make. All I needed was a loaf of cinnamon raisin bread, eggs, cream, milk, sugar, vanilla and a little dash of cinnamon. I topped that with a can of apple pie filling (my favorite part!) and it was ready for the oven. Can’t you already imagine the sweet smell of this baking?! Yum.
Hands down this dish is best served warm, straight out of the oven with a lovely drizzle of icing on top. I have a sneaky feeling this apple cinnamon bread pudding is going to make many appearances at our house this fall. Hopefully then I’ll get to eat more! 😉
Oh, and just because I am an apple lover, tell me…what’s you favorite apple recipe?

My favorite apple recipe is my grandma’s Apple Pan Dowdy –
(the beauty of this recipe is you can make it bigger or smaller very easily)
Basic version – fills a small glass rectangular baking dish.
6-8 Cortland Apples cut up (use more or less depending on how big a pan you’re making)
½ cup sugar and cinnamon mixture (more or less – see above)
1 ½ cup Brown sugar – (see above – use more or less as desired)
1 ½ cup flour
6 tablespoons of butter – cold – will mix better
Cut up apples and sprinkle with sugar cinnamon mix. I sprinkle and stir to mix in layers if I’m making a big pan. Using some extra butter, drop some “dots” of butter in various spots on the apples. Continue until your pan is about 2/3 full. Dot some butter in various spots on top.
Using a pastry cutter, blend together the brown sugar, flour, and butter. When crumbly spread over the apple mixture.
Bake at 325 degrees for 45-60 minutes – Brown sugar mixture should be dark brown and pan should be bubbly around the edges.
