A few weeks ago we decided to tackle our laundry room. It was like killing two birds with one stone: It marked the space off of my 2012 to do list and qualified for the Imagine the Impossibilities Challenge. I sooooo love multi-tasking! We started by painting out the entire space in Glidden’s Crisp Linen. I have to admit: It took four coats to cover all that leftover aqua. And I used Glidden Duo – but to go from bright blue to light cream took quite a few layers. Check out my black back ... continue reading...
How to Paint Artwork: Sweet Tea Served Here Sign
Sweet tea served here! Of course, having a southern kitchen means that sweet tea is always on the menu, so this sign was the perfect addition to our kitchen. Sign painting it pretty easy to do, and if you're looking for a distressed look then perfection isn't even an issue. If you can color with a marker then you can make this sign with my How to Paint Artwork: Sweet Tea Served Here Sign project. Mr. SCC built me a big ole sign by putting together boards with a cleat connecting them ... continue reading...
DIY chicken wire pendant light
Our little light over the kitchen sink was a case of budget over beauty. I dreamt of one of those delicious Anthropologie lights, oozing with quirky style. I channeled my ... continue reading...
Halloween Mantle

We started with the elements on Monday… The book page garland Boo Bunting Easy Print Candles and Crooked Frames… And here’s all of it put together! I added in a couple of Dollar Tree black birds & some gauzy cloth (2 of each). Someone asked where I get my candles – Big Lots has the 4 inch in a four pack for $6 – but I know they have larger ones, too. They’re the best ... continue reading...
Pottery Barn Inspired Mantle

I saw the idea in a PB catalog, and knew that I could achieve the same look with some thrift store frames. I went to Goodwill and bought a bunch of frames, all in different shapes and sizes (but all rectangular) – the most important part was that the sticker was the 1/2 off color of the day, the whole lot was only about $10. I also used my ... continue reading...
