Don’t know what it is, but farmhouse decor particularly draws me in this time of year. Perhaps it’s the cozy, nostalgic prospect of homes filled with food, friends and family all season long that makes me want to hoard all of the rustic and industrial goodness I come across at markets and on my screen. The problem is, my home is already filled things I love. With decor and furniture I have both built with my own hands and bought. But what if there’s a workaround? What if said item(s) are not only pretty as can be but functional for this season and beyond?
So here are my rules. I will consider farmhouse style storage that perform the following functions/have the following characteristics:
- Sweet little slots to organize jewelry
- Cute capacity to hold extra towels and toiletries for guests
- Central location with several compartments to store home school stuff
- Can be filled with fruit for a festive & functional display
- Makes entertaining easier
- I can bring more of the outdoors in by planting something in it
In other words. Farmhouse style buckets, baskets and bins will “get a pass.” And here are a few I’m digging.

Farmhouse Style Storage
Round Galvanized Tub with Handles – wouldn’t this be perfect beside a fireplace with kindling?
Rustic Barrel Buckets – farmhouse style storage that’s aqua? I’m pretty sure I could find a million places to use these!
Iron Baskets with Burlap Lining – I have several of these in a few different sizes and use them for everything from holding dog toys to hot chocolate.
Bushel Basket – I’m pretty sure this is the quintessential farmhouse storage solution. They’ve been around practically forever, they’re extremely cheap, and durable. I have one that I’ve used for years to hold my kiddos wooden blocks, and even all these years later it’s still in perfect shape.
French Farmhouse Style Storage Basket – Tiered baskets are handy, especially in small spaces. This farmhouse style storage option is perfect for small bathrooms to hold essentials or in the kitchen to hold lunch box essentials.
Rustic Chicken Wire Magazine Holder – Magazines, mail or files, whatever you need, this farmhouse style storage solution is perfect for paperwork.
Rustic Metal Wire Fire Wood Log Holder – Although this basket is “technically” a log holder, it would also make a great farmhouse style storage solution for large toys.
Wall Mounted Wire Shelves – Small kitchens work best when you make the most of every inch. These wall baskets are perfect for herbs or oil and vinegar. They’d also work well in bathrooms, too!
Distressed Wall Cabinet – This cabinet would be great for holding small craft supplies if you don’t have a craft room.
Wood & Leather Box Trio – do you lean more towards French farmhouse style? Wouldn’t these be great for hiding all those essentials.
Metal Containers – I’m pretty sure I could fill these up with my wooden spoon collection…
Wood Handle White Bucket This is one of my party essentials… I use it for icing drinks or holding bread for a big dinner – lots of uses for a classic bucket though!
Wood Basin – Even though this would make great storage for small items every day, I think this would also work great for party serving!
Industrial Farmhouse Style Storage Rack – Wanna keep those veggie separated? This basket is perfect for that!
Vintage Wood Milk Crate – With a million and one uses, you can find tons of ways to use this crate for more than just bottles.
Tin Silverware Caddy – Another party essential – but you could use this farmhouse style storage option every day for things like paint brushes or make up brushes!
Embossed Tin Letter Box – ok… this one might not be practical, but it sure is beautiful!
Galvanized Metal Tray – Trays are useful for way more than just serving drinks… you can use them for holding mail or even creating a bar on top of a cabinet.
Tin Square Bin – even though I’m not a gardener… I’d love to use this for holding seed packets!
Polk County Basket – A metal basket with a million uses – and that handle? Yes, please!
Farm Fresh Metal Buckets – Storage shouldn’t be boring… and this farmhouse style container is definitely not boring!
Metal Vintage Laundry Basket with Wheels – Laundry might be a little easier with a pretty basket to keep it all together.
Oval Metal Tray with Handles and Distressed Black Finish – Big trays are great for corralling items together on tables so they can be moved quickly for dinner, etc.
Metal Basket Chest – There HAS to be space in my home for this. I have no idea where it will go… but I’m pretty sure I need it in my life!
Metal & Wood Basket Cart – Little cubby holes in basket form… this would be great to help kids organized!

I really love the old farmhouse look especially the nice wood and leather boxes. You can’t help but wonder what kinds of treasures they contain!
