I use a lot of iron on transfers for projects here as well as the ones I do over on Graphics Fairy DIY. I often get emails and questions about the easiest way to flip an image – and it’s so easy that you probably already know how… but I thought I’d share just in case.
It’s seriously one step – dead simple – and you can do it in about 3 seconds. First open your image in Paint. I use Paint a lot because it’s free…. I like free.
Then click the little split triangle box, the one next to my big, red arrow. It will give you a drop down box, choose FLIP HORIZONTAL.
Save your image and you’re done! See, I told you it was easy 🙂 Sometimes in our
“make everything more difficult” world, we tend to overlook the simple things.
Thanks for that tip Gina! I like free too.
Awesome tip! Thanks so much Gina!
Thank you!I didnt know that.Nice!Nice!
Well, you have certainly helped this not-so-techy person out this morning. I had NO IDEA how to do this. You are on my brand new BFF list! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! xo Diana
Maybe lots of people already knew how to do this, but I surely didn’t! Thank you for explaining it.
Now, I need to find out more about Paint!
Thanks for the tip!
Thanks Gina.
I am going to try this, usually I just flip it when I am printing it out by clicking on t-shirt transfer in the printer options but it prints pretty slow.
Would you happen be willing to post the link for Paint…I do not have it on my computer and when I went to download it I keep finding it only with other software I do not want. Cannot wait to give this a try. What I do now is about 10x’s longer then this…cannot wait to give it a try.
Thanks Carol
Thanks, Gina. So simple, but if ya don’t know how…….well, it’s not. 😎
THanks so much, I haven’t figured out how to flip the words on my printer, looked at book but no savy. I’ll love to have that link to Paint myself without alot of other stuff don’t want. You are a peach for educating us. Made me feel better to see other people didn’t know how either. I have an HP Photosmart D110, most likely there’s a very simple way to reverse words but I’ve yet to understand it. DUH, LOL!
It sounds so simple – maybe i can figure it out so far I have gone a long way around to get to my nose! Thanks!
OK, check out my time. I left my comment above, went to Graphics Fairy to download the hand holding the ad for rubber stamps. Opened my Microsoft Word, chose to insert a picture from a file, finally found that teeny little symbol, reversed it AND put a black frame around it, printed out a copy, closed down Word, left Graphics Fairy, came back here to post HOW EASY THIS IS! I am screaming with joy!!!
This couldn’t have been more timely! I wanted to use a Graphics Fairy graphic on a totebag for a friend’s b-day present, but had no idea how to flip it. Thanks, Gina!

Thanks for the tip. I didn’t know you could do that.
Thank you. Finally someone told me!!!
Thanks! Sometimes the simple tips we think everyone knows are really appreciated by those of us who haven’t figured it out yet.

This thread just showed up on my FB page this morning. I admit I must be behind everyone here in that I know how to flip the image, but don’t know how to do a transfer. Where do you get the images and are they just printed out on an inkjet printer?
Hi Nancy,
The images can be found all over the internet. Many sites offer them for free, one of my favorites is my good friend’s site, thegraphicsfairy.com
Yes you can print them on regular inkjet printer.
I want to copy something from pinterest. How do I get it to the paint app?
